For the product, I collaborated with Michigan Muslim Community Council to bring the students of Michigan Islamic Academy to Capitol Day 2020. The event takes place at the state capitol of Michigan.
The Michigan Muslim Community Council (MMCC) has roots as far back as the 1980s, gaining its current status and name in 2012. Multiple civil projects have been initiated by the group -- for example, the above poster shows their contribution to helping the residents of Flint in the water crisis, and the other poster shows their invitation to join Capitol Day. Capitol Day is annually organized by the MMCC, and it is meant to be a way to bring awareness to Muslims about their government. Here is a link to their website.
Capitol Day features a variety of activities ranging from speeches by guests, to mock debates, and even watching the state legislators while they are in session and performing their job! Students in 7th grade and above are invited along with parents, guardians, and chaperones, and the event itself is sponsored by MMCC -- meaning that the event is free of charge.
